LostHighwayAug 29, So I suffered the ol' clogged pilot jet wouldn't idle, ran like crap until 3, rpm Anyway - I headed down to Canadian Tire, and bought a bottle of Duralube Advanced Fuel System Cleaner on the flawed logic that it, as it was the most expensive, it must be the best. Totally fixed. No, I don't work for Duralube or Canadian Tire or anything of the sort - I'm just so impressed, and I know a lot of people on this forum have had a hard time finding Seafoam I'm won over totally.

It seems to work wonders.

Just thought I'd share this tip with my fellow KLR riders. Hey thanks! I just sold my klr but my xr is having idle issues after my rebuild and it wants to die always unless I give it gas I have taken it apart quite a few times now! I remember using it in the states and it was awesome. Does the Duralube brand say its for a specific type of fuel system or is it general use? That way I can hopefully source the exact bottle you used. I remember finding some cleaner and used it in my klr after gas had been sitting a long time and it didnt do anything Thanks though!

2008 Kawasaki KLR650 (KL650E8F) Carburetor (E8F/E9F)

Did some searching and didn't find much. I have the Clymer manual. Any secret trick to remove the carb on a KLR? This lets you swing front to side, turn and pull completely out. Believe I also saw post about simply rolling carb sideways and disassembling while still in the boots. Probably not a bad plan if it doesn't need super cleaning.

It's a PITA to remove and re-install. One trick I use is to remove the top subframe bolts and allow the subframe to tilt back. Watch the wire harness; don't let it stretch to tight. OlyNov 11, Update - got her all done today. Was able to work the carb out and in without loosening the subframe. I took the choke cable loose at the handlebar. Not sure what was wrong, carb was very clean except for some goopy stuff in the air cutoff valve area. Jets and float bowl all looked virtually spotless. Fixed whatever was wrong though bike wouldn't idle without choke on - seemed like plugged pilot circuit.
